2012 Nollywood Sexy Divas


In this special feature on Nollywood actresses, we are showcasing actresses whose look and personality have created an occult followership and fan base for them.  They are on top of their game, quite feasible, stylish and know what time is it when it comes to fashion and style. Being stylish is not just about good look. A sexy diva should posses’ carriage, charisma, elegant and knows how to combine her ensembles. To flip the game, we are not doing the regular 10 but we are presenting to you our 2012 – 12 Nollywood Actresses that made it to our list after careful scrutiny not in any particular order. They are Nollywood darlings.

1.     Omotola Jolade

      The very talented actress got Married to Capt. Matthew Ekeinde and at the tender age of 18 and has 4 children. Apart from being one of the most successful Nollywood actresses, she is also a singer.
Road To Stardom:
Her first role in a movie came in the film "Venom of Justice"(1995). Omotola Ekeinde burst into the Nollywood film industry with the movie "Mortal Inheritance" (1995) where she played a sickle-cell patient who fights for her life even when she knows she might not be able to live. At the end of the day, she has a baby and eventually lives. This film which received good reviews won her awards for her role in the movie and is still known as one of Nigeria's best movies ever made. Ever since then she has not looked back and she has starred in blockbuster movies like "Games Women Play", "Blood Sisters", "All my life", "Last Wedding", My Story, The Woman in Meand a host of others. In the year 2005, she launched her music career.
She’s fondly called "Omosexy" by her large fans because of her pretty look and well carved out body. 

 2.     Mosun Filani

      The pretty actress is from Ikole-Ekiti State, Nigeria. Her parents live in Ibadan and she’s from a family of seven. She had her primary and secondary education in Ibadan and she attended College of Education, Abeokuta. She started acting in 2005. She has cast in more than a hundred movies; she is also a producer and has produced three (3) movies. ‘Alamu’, ‘Iran-kefa (Sixth Generation)’ and ‘Iku-ewa’, which is the latest.
3.     Chika Ike -

      In a highly competitive industry with multi talented actors and actresses, it is still easy to pick out this leggy actress whose trademark smile reminds one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s principle portrait - the Monalisa and like the master piece. The covetous beauty started acting at age six in her local church and watched a lot of movies while growing up; this became the inception for inspiration and challenge to join the movie industry.

In the year 2008, the dark haired beauty Chika Ike became an unexpected star after she was cast in a leading role as an African Princess in an epic movie called Mirror of Beauty which was shot on 35mm to the international scene and was shown in seven Cinemas in London (Odeon and Cineworld) where it was premiered. In September 24 , 2011, Chika opened an upscale fashion accessories store, Fancy Nancy Collections in the city of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, which is now a must shop- store for those discriminating, yet fashionable taste.

4.     Ebube Nwagbo -

     This beautiful screen goddess hails from Anambra State. She grew up in Warri and is the eldest in a family of six. Ebube obtained an OND and HND degree at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State. She further studied at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State where she read Mass Communication. She also holds a diploma degree in Law from the University of Benin; this she did for the love she had for Law. She started her journey into the Nigerian Film Industry in 2003 during an audition. She got the lead role in the movie “Arrested by Love”. Since then, Ebube has featured in over 40 movies. 

5.     Genevieve Nnaji -

      Genevieve Nnaji started her acting career as a child actress in the then-popular television soap opera "Ripples" at the age of 8. She was also featured in several commercials, some of which included Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. In 1998, at the age of 19, she made her debut in the growing Nigerian film industry with the movie "Most Wanted."

Her subsequent movies--"Last Party," "Mark of the Beast," and "Ijele" (which is still considered to be one of her best epic performances to date)--brought forth an icon to be loved and adored by many. In 2009, Genevieve made history by being the first Nigerian actress to be profiled on "The Oprah Winfrey Show".
With strings of endorsement and top rated movies, Genevieve is believed to be the highest-paid and most desired actress in Nollywood today.
6.     Anita Joseph – 

      She’s an actress cum musician and also a model. She is also controversial.  But she would not look for your trouble unless you look for hers, so she says. She started her acting career in 2005 and her first movie was Good Samaritan after which she has starred in a couple of dozen films. She once describes her backside as, BUM-BASTIC and HEAVY!!! Lol!
7.     Tonto Dike - 

      Tonto Dike (born June 9, 1985) is an actress from Rivers State and is of the Ikwerre tribe. In 2005 she competed against other contestants on a reality TV show called The Next Movie Star; she was the first runner up. Dike’s appearance on the show was as a means of getting closer to the "big time", she says, and her start in the Nigerian movie industry came soon after. Tonto’s sensual roles in movie no doubt shot her to the top of the ladder and she’s currently one of the most sought after Nollywood actresses.  She studied Petro-chemical engineering at the University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. 

            8.     Ini Edo -
        
      She was born on April 19, 1982. Ini Edo began her film career in the year 2000, and has featured in more than 50 movies since that time.  Born in Calabar, Cross River state, into a family of six, this indigene of Akwa Ibom, attended Cornelia Connelly College in Calabar for her secondary school education, and crowned it with a diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom. Ini Edo later went on to study for a full degree in English at the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Ini Edo's foray in Nollywood started during a school strike, when she went with a friend to an audition.  She got the role in the film ‘Child of Destiny’. However her breakout role came when she acted in the film, ‘World Apart’(2004) and since then she has not looked back, going on to act in more than 100 films such as ‘Games women Play’ Games Men Play and the sequel ‘Reloaded’.
Ini Edo opened a new chapter in her career when she executive produced a soon-to-be-released film, ‘Memories of my Heart’.
In recognition to her contribution to the film making in Nigeria, she was made a Glo Ambassador by the telecom giant Globacom. She is also recently signed a deal to be the Face of Chivita, the popular juice manufacturers.

            9.     Mercy Johnson – 
      
     She was given birth to in Lagos on April 14, 1984, even though she started out her primary school education in Calabar where she resides with her biological father. Mercy afterwards relocated to Lagos State when her daddy was transferred, where she continued her schooling at the Nigerian Navy Primary school.
The celebrity went to Rivers State Secondary School for her secondary education in addition to Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, River State. Right after her secondary education, she auditioned for a role in ‘the Maid’ a movie that’s to launch her into stardom.
The talented actress has been mostly connected with emotionally charged roles. As witnessed in many of her films, she’s an extremely actress who is able to fit any role ranging from action to romance. She also admits being her very best in emotional roles.
The Nollywood screen darling has featured in many movies that include Beyond Desire, My Beloved Son, Look Into My Eyes, Kill the Bride, Painful World, Under Control, Lost to Lust, Sweet Mama, Wealth Aside, Royal Tears, Genevieve, Strength to Strength, Last Kiss, Forest of Promises and Women in Power.
She’s from a family of 7 children and she is the 6th child.
10.  Rukky Sanda - 


       The stunningly beautiful, Lagos born and bred actress a couple of years back chose Nollywood over the N25 billion-rich banks, after her graduation from the Lagos State University and she has since never looked. She had her debut appearance in 2004 with Angel and The Beats but she started serious in 2006. She has since featured in well over 20 movies amongst which are Strength of love, Legal war, Campus love, My Precious Son, Weeping Tiger and many more.

11.  Stephanie Okereke –

      Stephanie Onyekachi Okereke (born 1982) is an actress, film director and model.  She’s an A-list actress with an infectious personality. She is the sixth child of eight children. In 1997 she featured in two films titled “Compromise 2” and “Waterloo”. A year later she took a break from acting and pursued school, to study English and literary studies at the University of Calabar.

In 2002 Stephanie won 2nd place in “The most beautiful girl in Nigeria” beauty pageant, putting her on the map. The next year, she was nominated for eight awards, of which she won two; “Reel Awards best actress English” and “ Reel award best actress of the year” . Stephanie's' features include “Private sin, Eye of the gods, Reloaded, and Adora which was shot in South Africa. In 2004 she graduated from the university.
Stephanie made her mark with the movie Emotional Crack that premiered at the African Film festival (New York) in April 2004. With Over 90 films to her name, Stephanie Okereke is continually building her brand in the movie industry. A recent graduate of the New York Film Academy Stephanie has expanded her title to include Director, producer and writer with the introduction of her latest movie: Through the Glass which premiered in October 18th 2008 at the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood, California. Stephanie received a Recognition Award from the California state legislature and the city of Carson for the movie Through the Glass.
12.  Rita Domini - 

      Rita Dominic is a member of the Royal Waturuocha family of Aborh Mbaise local government area in Imo State. She is the youngest of 4 siblings. Her late parents were medical practitioners; her father was a medical doctor and her mother a nursing officer. Dominic completed her primary and secondary school in Abia State, Nigeria, before heading to the University of Port Harcourt, where she graduated with a BA (Honours) Degree in Theatre Arts in 1999.
Rita Dominic started performing when she was a child, appearing in school plays and children's television shows in Imo state. In 1998 she starred in her first movie A time to kill. She won the City People Awards in 2004 as the Most Outstanding Actress. She has starred in over 100 Nollywood productions.
The star actress was born on 12 July 1975 in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria.
